Two weeks in April: Gorgeous weather and more personal bests!
Despite having a GPS with a lousy sense of direction, Dave Bennett and Dave Flowers finally arrived at Forest Lake Carp Fishing on April 5th after a lengthy journey from their Warwickshire home. Despite having driven for such a long way, the two experienced anglers couldn't wait to get their baits out and start hauling in the fish. As usual it didn't take long! Dave Flowers, who is more of an all-round angler broke his carp personal best in no time and continued to do so throughout his stay - finishing up with a very respectable PB of 32lb 7oz. His carp hunting buddy wasn't going to be outdone though and managed to just tip the scales in his favour for the biggest fish of the fortnight with a 32lb 8oz mirror.
The two Daves managed to bag the 90 carp they had during their stay using Cell boilies with PVA bags and tubes. They also had success with ESP hair rigs with size 8 barbless hooks, running leads and artificial baits. They used an assortment of other rigs too: helicopter, KD, pop-up, claw and blowback.
